DESCRIPTION

Bookeasy received reports that some users were unable to complete bookings or were experiencing slow load times via Bookeasy's online booking engine integrated across various destination partner websites. This issue significantly impacted Parks Victoria due to the high volume of site visitation they were attracting with the release of availability for their Tidal River peak season applications.


Upon immediate investigation it was ascertained that the root cause was a database table missing an index. As a result, the Bookeasy database was automatically blocking more readers and writers to this table than was required, which therefore slowed the getCart API message to a point where it didn't respond for some users.


Bookeasy's development team quickly added the missing index which enabled the system to return to normal.
